SURG 206 - Surgical Technology Clinical II 8 Credit Hours
This course is designed to provide the student with the hands-on experience necessary to become employed as a surgical technologist. This course functions to expand knowledge gained in the previous program courses, and support the knowledge being gained in the Surgical Procedures II course. Students continue their supervised clinical rotations, with focus on applying the fundamental concepts and principles necessary for successful participation on a surgical team, in the first scrub role, as identified in the current edition of the Core Curriculum for Surgical Technology’s surgical rotation case requirements. Upon completion of this course the student will demonstrate understanding in the cognitive, psychomotor and affective learning domains related to principles and practice of surgical technology as outlined in the current edition of the Core Curriculum for Surgical Technology, Association of Surgical Technologists, as indicated by their weekly clinical evaluations, surgical case attainment and course requirements.

Prerequisites: Surgical Technology Program admission as defined by admission policy. Successful completion of SURG 202 - Surgical Procedures I and SURG 106 - Surgical Technology Clinical I required. Corequisites: SURG 204 - Surgical Procedures II .
