This course builds upon the skills and knowledge developed in DMS 115. Students will be instructed in the recognition of normal and abnormal variants and pathology of the various abdominal structures in the adult and pediatric patient. They will improve their ability to evaluate the related health history and labs to develop differential diagnoses related to the ultrasound exams. Students will expand their knowledge of protocol modification based on exam findings. Ultrasound imaging procedures and appearance of the breast and commonly evaluated musculoskeletal joints will also be introduced. Interventional, invasive, and advanced procedures will be covered. This course includes a laboratory component where students will become proficient in the scanning techniques and protocols of the ultrasound exams related to the systems covered.
