DMS 225 - Vascular Ultrasound 4 Credit Hours
The focus of this course is the use of ultrasound evaluation in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and abnormalities of the human vascular system. Students will learn to identify and differentiate normal and abnormal vascular anatomy, physiology, hemodynamics, pathophysiology, and vascular diseases. They will be instructed in the role of sonography in ultrasound guided procedures and interventions and physiologic vascular testing. This course includes a laboratory component where students will become proficient in the scanning techniques and protocols of the ultrasound exams related to the systems covered.
Prerequisites: Students must have successfully completed DMS 100 - Intro to Diagnostic Med Sonography , DMS 105 - Sonography Principles & Instrument I , DMS 110 - Sonography Principles & Instrument II , DMS 115 - Abdominal Sonography I , and DMS 120 - OB/GYN Sonography I , or program director approval to enroll. Corequisites: DMS 135 Sonography Clinical Practice I , unless otherwise approved by the program director.
