DMS 250 - Sonography Clinical Practice III

3 Credit Hours

This final experience in the clinical setting will give students expanded opportunities to explore and participate in advanced sonographic procedures and interventions. They will continue to improve their ultrasound scanning techniques, knowledge of protocols and protocol modifications based on patient specific health history, relevant test results, and differential diagnoses. Students will achieve clinical competency in all remaining required ultrasound examinations within the areas of Abdomen-extended, OB/Gyn, and Vascular sonography. This course includes a laboratory component for additional skill mastery. A minimum of 135 hours are required in the clinical setting.

Prerequisites: Students must have successfully completed DMS 100 - Intro to Diagnostic Med Sonography, DMS 105 - Sono Principles & Instrument I, DMS 110 - Sono Principles & Instrument II, DMS 115 - Abdominal Sonography I, DMS 120 - OB/GYN Sonography I, DMS 135 - Sonography Clinical Practice I, DMS 201 - Abdominal Sonography II, DMS 205 - OB/GYN Sonography II, DMS 215 - Sonography Clinical Practice II, and DMS 225 Vascular Ultrasound or program director approval to enroll.
Corequisites: DMS 220 - Diagnostic Medical Sonography Semin or program director approval.
