DMS 215 - Sonography Clinical Practice II

This second experience in the clinical setting offers students an opportunity to expand and improve their hands-on scanning skills and patient care under the supervision of qualified sonographers. They will implement patient health history, relevant test results, differential diagnoses, and protocol modification into their ultrasound scanning practice. Students will continue to work toward clinical competence in the majority of commonly encountered sonographic exams within the areas of Abdomen-extended, OB/Gyn, and Vascular sonography. This course includes a laboratory component for additional skill mastery. A minimum of 225 hours are required in the clinical setting.

Prerequisites: Students must have sucessfully completed DMS 100 - Intro to Diagnostic Med Sonography, DMS 105 - Sono Principles & Instrument I, DMS 110 - Sono Principles & Instrument II, DMS 115 - Abdominal Sonography I, DMS 120 - OB/GYN Sonography I, DMS 135 - Sonography Clinical Practice I, and DMS 225 Vascular Ultrasound or program director approval to enroll.
Corequisites: DMS 201 - Abdominal Sonography II and DMS 205 - OB/GYN Sonography II or director approval.
