DMS 105 - Sonography Principles & Instrumentation I 3 Credit Hours
This course provides instruction in sonography physics and instrumentation including the physics of diagnostic ultrasound and the instruments and equipment utilized in the conversion of soundwaves into diagnostic information. Advanced scanning features, pulsed wave Doppler, color flow imaging, image artifacts, bioeffects, ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principle, the importance of quality assurance, and current developments in sonography are also covered.

Prerequisites: Students must be admitted to the program or have program director approval to enroll. Corequisites: DMS 113 Diagnostic Medical Sonography Lab I and DMS 115 Abdominal Sonography .
