Level I Certificate, Level II Certificate, and Associate of Applied Science degree option
The Automotive Technology program offers a Level I Certificate option (19 credit hours), a Level II Certificate option (39 credit hours), and provides the opportunity for a student to complete an AAS with additional general education requirements.
The Automotive Technology program utilizes Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) curriculum and includes both theory and hands-on application. NCCC is currently working toward becoming an ASE-Accredited program. Students completing this program will cover ASE standards for the Automobile Service Technician (AST) test.
ASE is a nationally recognized accreditor that provides three levels of certification tests, the Entry-Level (previously ASE Student), the Professional Technician (that also requires hands-on work experience) and the Master Certification. Students will have the opportunity to take several Entry-Level Certification tests throughout the curriculum of this program. Completion of any level of this program provides equivalent hands-on work experience that can be applied toward professional certification.
Prerequisites
AAS students will need to demonstrate proficiencies based on the Mandatory Placement Policy, or by taking the recommended/ required classes. Some of the courses in this curriculum have specific prerequisites.
Associate of Applied Science Option
Students interested in completing an Associate of Applied Science degree in Industrial Engineering Technology should visit with an advisor to determine general education requirements. The AAS degree requires 64 credit hours including a minimum of 42-48 technical credit hours. First-time, full-time students are required to take CURR 100 First Year Seminar 1 cr hrs .
